Participants representing government, academia, and the private sector attended the two-day workshop.
The Center for Technology in Government (CTG) and SAP have partnered on an open government thought leadership program. As part of this program, CTG hosted a workshop to test and refine a new approach to helping government decision-makers translate Open Government, Open Data, and Big Data opportunities into public value.
The two-day workshop was attended by an international group of 25 participants representing government, academia, and the private sector. The attendees were all recognized thought leaders and experts on the challenges and opportunities of using information and technology to improve government operations and services—and create other data-driven innovations.
Together with researchers from CTG, the workshop participants:
Participants discussed CTG's new approach to helping government decision-makers translate Open Government, Open Data, and Big Data opportunities into public value.
Feedback from the workshop will be analyzed by CTG researchers and used to develop the project's final white paper and identify additional collaboration opportunities with the workshop participants.
The workshop is part of a larger program in collaboration with SAP that has both research and practical components, and will produce new conceptual and analytical tools for helping government decision makers better understand the ways opening government can improve informational relationships among government, citizens, and non-government stakeholders.
