The CEC is a joint effort between the United States, Canada, and Mexico that ensures North America acts as one coordinated entity in regards to various environmental issues. The EPA National Advisory Committee works on a wide range of strategic, technological, scientific, regulatory and economic issues facing the North American region.

Theresa Pardo“I am honored and excited to continue my involvement in the EPA’s National Advisory Committee and Chair the Committee for the next two years,” says Pardo. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Committee to ensure that thorough and appropriate advice is provided to the EPA Administrator on important environmental issues impacting North America.”

As the Federal agency responsible for setting national standards and writing regulations regarding environmental laws, the EPA plays a major role in the CEC. The National Advisory Committee, which comprises a well-rounded team of experts from academia, environmental groups, businesses, nongovernmental organizations, and others, was created in 1994 by executive order to ensure that the Administrator of the EPA receives comprehensive input surrounding issues pertaining to the CEC.

Theresa will serve a two-year term as Chair, traveling to Washington DC to meet with the Committee and EPA executives three times per year. In addition she will represent the NAC at the annual meeting of the CEC Council.
