Brief Bio

Dr. Emmanuel Sebastian Udoh is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Information Systems and Business analytics Department at the Massry School of Business, University at Albany.

Dr. Udoh is a researcher on Responsible and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), information and data science. His research focuses on FATES (fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics, safety and security) principles, models and practices in AI, ML, information and data science, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT). His current research is on algorithmic justice issues in AI and ML technologies, especially algorithmic (or automated) decision (governance) systems as implemented online and in public sector domains such as algorithmic (or predictive) policing. For example, his recent works explore fairness issues in algorithmic policing systems in US cities through a data fairness lens, and in online information access systems, with the goal of designing fairness aware and fairness-preserving models. He is also interested in the potential role of AI and ML in attaining inclusive public sector reforms in developing economies.
