Yu Yan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Government at Beijing Normal University. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2020 and conducted postdoctoral research at Tsinghua University from 2021 to 2023.
His research covers digital governance, urban governance, and government responsiveness in China. Recently, he is working on projects investigating whether and to what extent digital technology empowers the public and promotes government responsiveness in Beijing and other Chinese cities. He has published more than ten peer-reviewed articles on International Political Science Review, China: An International Journal and other journals in English and Chinese.
